Relationships

Relationships are lifelong “projects” that require ongoing work from all of us. Some relationships leave us with deep wounds, and our earliest relationships have significant impact on who we are both with ourselves and in adult relationships. In order to heal and have healthy relationships, we need to increase our awareness and understanding of how our earliest relationships have shaped us and learn how previously adaptive behaviors may no longer serve us. We will support you in exploring your relationships and help you identify potential needs and boundaries to increase the well-being of your interpersonal relationships.

What might our work together entail?

  • Increasing awareness and understanding of your earliest relationships and how they impacted both your sense of self and how you relate with others.

  • Increasing awareness of your defenses, triggers and feelings that are carried into the present but may no longer be of service.

  • Increasing awareness of your protective layers and your adaptive behaviors that have developed as a result of your earliest relationships and experiences and how they may no longer be of service.

  • Increasing awareness and understanding of your needs and values.

  • Increasing your awareness and understanding of yourself in the context of interpersonal relationships will help in seeking and maintaining healthy relationships that foster connection, healthy boundaries and maintain individuality.
