Help with Life Transitions
Whether you find yourself with difficulties related to career changes, relationship changes, or identity and role shifts within interpersonal relationships, we are here to support you with curiosity, compassion and direction.
Avoiding change
Do you feel stuck in life? Knowing that you want or need to change, but not sure how to start?
Sometimes we avoid change because our current unhappiness feels safer than the unknown temporary pain we might have to endure to get to a potentially happier future. At least we are familiar with this current misery, and know how to deal with it!
It takes courage to take that first step towards an unknown future. Our goal is to help you explore all your options, and to walk alongside you as you make your own choice.
The process of change can involve grieving a lost identity, as well as celebrating and enjoying what is to come. Change can mean facing long-held fears. Sometimes it also requires learning to be ‘selfish’ and giving yourself permission to put your own needs first.
Very few things in life are truly impossible, but they might be difficult, inconvenient, or feel unpleasant or awkward. Our goal together in therapy will be to look at the reasons you feel stuck with honesty and compassion, and help you grow in confidence to accept whatever decision you ultimately choose to make.
What might our work together entail?
Allowing space to explore emotions and feelings in a safe and nonjudgmental environment.
Providing honest and direct reflection as appropriate.
Increasing awareness and understanding about how past relationships and life experiences have shaped you and are impacting the present day.
Increasing your tolerance of difficult emotions and feelings and your ability to manage distress.
Identifying your needs and helping you find ways to address them.
