Support for Caregivers
Being a caregiver for a loved one due to aging, long-term or terminal illness can feel overwhelming and isolating, especially as caregiving becomes a growing reality for many people. It's easy to feel helpless at times, caught between the desire to give everything to the person you're caring for and the weight of your own exhaustion. At Peace can provide compassionate support by helping you find balance and reclaim a sense of self amidst the demands of caregiving. By making space for yourself, you're able to show up more fully for your loved one—strengthening your resilience and preserving your well-being so that you can continue providing care from a place of strength and compassion.
What might our work together entail?
Offering a safe, non-judgmental space to express uncomfortable feelings such as sadness, frustration, guilt, or anger, without fear of burdening others.
Helping the caregiver set healthy and realistic boundaries to prevent burnout and helping to prioritize time for themselves, even when it feels difficult.
Supporting the caregiver through anticipatory grief, helping them process feelings related to the potential or eventual loss of their loved one.
Assisting the caregiver in recognizing their strengths, resilience, and the importance of self-compassion during this challenging period.
Encouraging the caregiver to seek external support from friends, family, or caregiver groups to reduce feelings of isolation.
Exploring stress management options that are most realistic for the caregiver such as relaxation exercises, grounding techniques or journaling.
Joining the caregiver in thinking about the future, discussing long-term care options, and helping them feel more prepared for what’s ahead.
